- The stated intent of the author is to give the reader an idea of recent developments in the theory of torsion-free abelian groups. The monograph is divided into two parts. The first part contains the text of eight lectures given at the University of Montreal in the summer of 1979. Topics emphasized include direct sums of groups of rank one, groups of rank two, quasi-endomorphisms, and groups of rank one. The second part outlines, via stating definition and theorems, nine articles on torsion-free groups published between 1973 and 1979.
